RAK Monday (random acts of Kindness)

Welcome to a new year of RAK! For those of you new to my blog RAK stands for Random Acts of Kindness. To participate all you have to do is write a post on your blog about something you have done for someone or that someone has done for you and come back over here and sign the Mr. Linky. Lets start this year off with lots of RAK's. Feel free to grab the cute graphic that Kristi made!

I am sure that most of you have heard about the wild storms we had last night here in the midwest. When we came out this morning to take our trash out, our neighbors had already put theirs out last night. The strong winds and rain had knocked their garbage cans out in the middle of the street and their garbage bags were tossed all over the place. My husband gathered all their trash and cans and put them back in place in their driveway. They probably have no idea that their stuff was scattered all over the place. Just a small RAK but thats all it takes!

Happy New Year! Aloha Friday

I am back from our world wind tour of the Eastern United States. We traveled through 13 states, traveled 54 hours in a car, 3269 miles all in 11 days. Did I mention there were six of us in a car?? We had a great time!

Some of the highlights...

My children seeing their Great Grandmothers.
Spending Christmas in New Hampshire.
Playing in tons of snow with their cousins.
Spending the night in NYC and seeing the Lion King on Broadway.
Seeing all the Aunts, Uncles and cousins in New Hampshire, Vermont & Maryland!
It is great to be back! Here are just a few of the 500 pictures that I took.

I took Kristi's advice and uploaded all my pictures to Smugmug! What a great site.

If any of you have tons of pictures and need a safe storage space for them I highly recommend it. You can put my email in wiljen109@aol.com if you decide to try it to save $ 5.00 of a yearly fee.

Aloha Friday question....

Did you go anywhere for Christmas? If so how far did you travel? How many states did you pass through?

Monday starts a new year for Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) So I hope you and your family have been busy making this world a better place!! See you then!!

Thanks Kate for checking up on me! It's nice to be missed!! :-)

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)

Thanks to all of you who have participated in all the RAK Monday's. I have been somewhat of a slacker these past few Monday's. With all of the orders, packing for six for a loooooong road trip and an unexpected flight for my husband to check on his mother in the hospital. I am home alone with four children.....

Thank you to Lori who watched Abigale last week during the ice storm (her school was closed due to no power) so I could get some Christmas shopping done and for all the Christmas goodies that she has dropped off!!

Thanks to Kim for the great chocolate covered peanut butter crackers! YUM

Thank you to all who have sent their well wishes to my MIL. I will be picking up my husband at an airport on the way to our Christmas destination!

Several of you have posted RAK's on your blog so please head back over here and sign the Mr. Linky!.

RAK will be back in 2008! See you then!

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)

I totally dropped the ball last Monday!! I had great intentions of doing a great post on being Thankful and how we as human beings can show Kindness to our fellow man.....

But then I got a call inviting us to Alabama for Thanksgiving. That is a 12 + hour drive. I had orders to finish, hostess gifts to monogram, kids to pack for, car to load, cat to tend to and lots more that I can't even remember.

So I am having a Re-do on the RAK that I should have done last week. I want to draw a random comment and RAK post to win one of two Christmas notepads.
If you have a RAK to share with us please post it over on your blog and come back and sign the Mr. Linky. If you want to leave a comment here about some ideas of a RAK that would be great. We can all use some ideas for our family to help spread the Holiday Cheer of Kindness to our fellow friends & neighbors. I will leave comments open until next Monday when the new RAK will be posted.

Random Acts of Kindness

I was really hoping that with all the traffic from last weeks Fall Yall Giveaway that I would get some more entries in the RAK Mr. Linky. I think the only thing I did was to confuse some of the people trying to win the prize. I had about 15 people sign the Mr. Linky under the RAK post but they were just trying to register for the prize. So, I thought I would try this again.

It is Monday the regular scheduled day for RAK. If you or a family member has had a RAK moment then please write about it on your blog and then sign the Mr. Linky below.

I am not sure if you read ours from last week so you can click on Busy Dad Mumbles (DH blog) and read about it.

Also, I wanted to suggest that maybe someone has done a RAK for you. If so then post about that.

Thanks for participating! Please help spread the word. You can capture the logo and put it on your sidebar if you would like. Does anyone know how to make it link to me in HTLM format? I would love to have the code for that...any of you techno people want to help me out?

Aloha Friday

This is a fun way to get to know some of your fellow bloggers. Just post a question that you would like answered and wait for the comments!!

Kailani is hosting this Meme every Friday. Go check it out and post your own question on your blog! Have fun!!

My question for the day is...

"What are your kids going to be for Halloween?"

So far three of my four children have decided what they are going to be. Abigale is going to be a cute witch, Hayden a Ninja and Katherine a 50's sock hop gal. The verdict is still out on Rebecca. I will keep you posted.

On another note. Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) will be hosted again here on Monday. So please get out and show the kindness this weekend with your family. Write about it on Monday and come back here and sign the Mr. Linky! If you are new to Random Acts of Kindness then you can read about how it started here and read some other peoples RAK here.

Random Acts of Kindness

I hope all of you have been out working on your RAK (Random Acts of Kindness). I am hoping that since I am hosting this just twice a month that we will have a better turnout. Thanks to Kailani the new Features Editor at 5 minutes for mom for mentioning this on her first installment of 5 minutes around the Blogoshere!

Things I/we as a family have done in the last couple of weeks.

*We have given money anonymously to several good causes

*Helped someone in a wheelchair reach items out of their reach

*moved a grocery cart out of the way so a car could pull into a parking spot

*picked up dropped money and gave it back to the person that dropped it (boy were they surprised)

*Gave a cold bottle of water to the WM greeter when leaving the store ( I told y'all that this would prob be on every RAK list I post, the kids love doing it :-)

I know these are small and prob insignificant, but I wanted all of you to know that just small things can make a person's day. So if your hesitant to participate because you don't have this grand RAK please don't be!!! Really, it can be something as easy as taking one of your children's drawings to an elderly neighbor.

So get out there and spread the word and come back here and let me know that you are participating. Sign the Mr. Linky so we can all come visit your blog.

Y'all have a great week!!

These are sweet

I came across these cute cards at Greer Chicago today and thought they would be great for all the RAK (random Acts of Kindness) people out there. I know that I am trying to do a better job at doing nice things for people that I don't know but what about the people that do something nice for you?? Wouldn't it be great to open up your purse and hand them one of these cards?

What about those people that do something nice for someone else and you see them do it? How cool would it be to have these. I thought I would share.

Random Act of Kindness

It is Monday so that means its time for you to post your RAK!! I hope that you and your family have thought of new and fun ways to do something nice for someone.

I am leaving for the beach with the kids tomorrow so I will be posting from the beach for the next few weeks. Please help spread the word about RAK!! We had five people last week and wouldn't it be great to get at least six this week.

My kids are so excited about this and last week I posted about buying the water bottle for the Walmart greeter. Ever since then we have had to buy a water each time we check out of WM!!! I guess this will be a permant RAK in our family!! We are going to see how many we can do on our 12 hour drive to Alabama!!

So my RAK for this week is the same as last week. We handed out water bottles to the WM greeter as we left the store!! We got the same stunned look and the biggest smiles as we were leaving!!Next Monday I should be able to report a lot of different ones! Help spread the word bloggers!!

You can read how all this got started by going here.

Random Acts of Kindness or R.A.K.

**Update**
We just got home from running errands while Abigale attended VBS. We ended up going to two different Walmart stores looking for a pair of shoes for Rebecca. We bought a cold water each time we checked out and took it over to the greeter as we left. The ladies eyes got so big when I handed it to them. They both kept thanking us over and over. The kids loved doing it. We stopped in at Subway to get a drink and one of the ladies came back over to us and gave me a hug and thanked me again. She said that had never happened to her. I told her about the RAK and we were going to do something like this every week. She smiled and told me she was glad that she was the first recipient! This has been so much fun. It reminds me of that commercial..... $1.36 for a cold water, $3.15 for the gallon of gas spent going to Walmart, the hug and smile from the Walmart greeter when you hand them the water...Priceless!!!

Keep up the good work Blogity Friends!!!

This is the first installment of R.A.K. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for the record amount of comments last week. I was overwhelmed with how many of you are on board with this.

I think it will be so much fun doing at least one R.A.K. a week. I know we can all do it. It does not have to be something major like the family donating the $10,000 to the waitress last week, so she can go to college. Just taking some brownies to your neighbor or having your teenage child mow an elderly persons yard. It can be as simple as your little boy holding the door at church for the congregation to file out after church.

This is my first time using Mr.Linky!! Thanks to Kailani for talking me through it.

Please grab the above graphic to use on your own blog and write a quick/small post about your very own R.A.K. Thanks Kristi for the graphic and for the great idea!!! Lets all meet back once a week and see what ideas we can give each other. I know I am looking forward to reading what everyone else is doing. If you have already posted about something on my original post you can link back to that too!! I will be announcing the Give-Away results later this week. So check back and spread the Bloggity RAK Love!!

Random Act of Kindness? Pay it Forward? Contest Alert!!!!!

***Sticky post scroll down for recent posts**** ***Update***
I have the Mr. Linky thing all figured out!! Be back here on Monday with a post on your very own RAK!! Add your name and site to the Mr. Linky!!! Lets do this every Monday!! We can start the week off
right!! If you have already posted about something then link to it!! Its only Friday so I know you guys can do some sort of RAK this weekend!!!
See you on Monday!! The giveaway winner will be announced later next week. I am going to add the people that linked in this post to the people that participate on Monday!! So if you do both you have 2 chances of winning!! Spread the love people!

**Update*** Check out the contest at the end of this post!!

I read a great post yesterday and I have been thinking about it ever since. Kristi at Everything pink wrote a post about the power of a Blog Comment. Further down in the post she talks about the random act of doing something nice for someone you don't know.

Today she thought it would be great if someone took this on and started a blog or weekly project of doing something for someone that you normally would not do. I think this is a great idea. I already participate in Good Mail and love sending things out to people. This would take it to another level. Some examples of things you could do:

* leave something for a neighbor

*Pay for the coffee of the car behind you at your local coffee shop

*Send a note to someone that you have not talked to in ages

*Buy the sweet Wal-mart greeter a soda as you leave the store

*Have your children get involved

Kristi had a post today with more examples of things you could do. She said that anyone that wanted to take this on feel welcome to do so. Soooo I thought if all of you Internets were up for it then to please leave a comment and leave your ideas. This would be so much fun to write a post every week on what you have done and then link back to one blog.

All you lurkers who read this blog.......Leave a comment :-)
Wow Lelly has already posted about a Random Act of Kindess. Please go check it out.

**Update***
Since I don't get a ton of traffic I sure don't want this post to go unnoticed....So I am going to have a Fantastic Giveaway!!!

Rules
Write a post about the Random act of Kindness and the contest and link back to me! That's it! That's all you have to do!

I know you are wondering what you will get??

* A personalized clipboard
* A set of Toile notecards
* A set of Marble Magnets
* Whatever else I can come up with, but that's a start.

Want to see pictures? The clipboard is here, the notecards are here and the magnets are here.
