I turned the power off at the electrical box just to make sure I did not electrocute myself, took off the old light and put up the new light. It took about an hour for all four and I thought they turned out pretty good. I put new 100 watt long lasting bulbs in and now our house is lit up like a beacon.

**********Aloha question******
Have you ever attempted to put a new light fixture in?
Have you every tried a home improvement project without having a clue what you were doing?

My husband has, but not me personally, though I've helped him. :) Love the new light!
YOu totally inpress me! We need to replace ours, one day I noticed it was very dirty so I squirted it off with the hose and it exploded the lights. Yes it was on. I just wasn't thinking. I keep telling my husband he needs to replace it but he hasn't. I might just have to do it my self.
DIY is my thing. I've replaced all the outside light fixtures in just about every huse I've lived in. Hey! I can't balance a checkbook though!!
I'm DIY and my husband is does the finances. He doesn't touch my tools and I leave the bills alone.
A happy couple we are!!
Good job lol You are brave. I have fixed some things but I can't remember what right now lol It's usually after asking and asking my husband to fix it..and he is too busy so I end up trying. Which I am about to fix the small hole in the wall that my son made.. its driving me crazy and my nagging isn't getting fixed any faster lol
We have tried a few things here and there. We had planned on putting ceiling fans in four years ago since the people at Home Depot said it would be easy. That changed when we saw the electrician working in our kitchen. It took him almost two hours to replace the fixture thanks to the condition of the extremely old wires that crumbled in his hands. Those fans are still waiting to be professionally installed!
Have a great weekend and I love your new lights!
I leave all that for DH because I'm accident-prone and I would probably shock myself or get hurt doing something on my own!
Well I hope you are feeling better:) I know how nasty those sinus infections can be!
The lights look great. I believe we have the same ones! Kudos to you for putting them up all by yourself! I've never done a big project all by myself but I do find myself doing lots of things I never thought I could/would do. When I want something done, I want it done now and my hubby doesn't feel the same, thus I have to do things myself!
besides painting and decorating I have never done anything. Hubby has, but it is so not up my alley, better for me to just stay out of the way!
Looks great though!!!
I haven't, but my husband has. And to the answer for the second question - yes!
LOL - your 'before' lights are the same as the ones that we put in when we moved into this house 5 years ago. :)
You're GOOD! I get the ideas and make my husband do the figuring out!
Everytime I do a project I start out with the clueless state then fake it...
Lots of fun. The Home Depot how to fix stuff book is how I figure out stuff.
Wow! You did a great job!
Not me. My motto is - Why do it yourself when you can pay someone else to do it. hee hee
I haven't but my husband has. LOL - oh the adventures.
so glad you are feeling better!
OMG! I just put the EXACT same lights outside on my front porch about two months ago!!!!!!!!!!!
LOOKS GOOD!! Hope you're feeling better, love!
good job girl! they look great. I tend to avoid projects that require handling electricity...my husband is pretty handy though. glad you are feeling better.
We have put up light fixtures and ceiling fans before, but NEVER without one of our dads present! :)
Yeah, I know this is last weeks post. I'm alittle late ok? lol
We do all kinds of stuff over here by ourselves. Sometimes we get it right and good. Most times it takes us 4x as long as the directions say, and occassionally there is an accident...like when my husband, sick of running up and down to turn the fuse box off while installing a light, got zapped off the ladder.
Ceiling was black and he was on the floor. We now hire electricians. LOL
